Le Marinel takes over as President of SI Sunderland at the
Annual General Meeting.

President Pat Suckley, 2011-12, presents a cheque for £500
to Helen Jakeway, winner of the Soroptimist International of
Sunderland Leadership Award’ 2011-12. Helen applied for the
Award to help fund her participation in a community
development project overseas. Helen impressed members of SI
Sunderland with a very strong application and an inspiring
interview with several members of the Club in February
2012. Helen will be in a party of eight guides and volunteer
helpers from Girl Guiding Durham North UK who are taking
part in an exciting “Discover your Potential” project in
Pune, India, to look at the health and education needs of
rural areas. Helen will be travelling to Pune in summer 2012
and will be visit SI Sunderland again in September to report
on her trip.
